I really don't have a clue about USB-C and Thunderbolt etc. That can charge the MacBook and display video on the monitor (including audio). I need to the cable to support the display to the monitor (obviously) and to also charge the MacBook, the current cable does just that, but is too short, so ideally I would like 2-3 metres 2 metres should be fine. I've had a look on Amazon but there are so many to choose from and to be honest I really don't quite understand what cable is required for me. I'm after some help, So I need a longer USB-C cable to connect my MacBook Air to my LG Monitor, I'm not sure if this is allowed here but this is my monitor The current USB-C cable is no longer suitable as I am now using a Monitor Arm and with the cable management it is too short to reach the MacBook Air. Help Needed for connecting MacBook Air 2020 to LG Monitor Hey Guys, Any suggestion on why it is not working and how the problem can be resolved? I expect switching to hdmi connection with an adaptor will allow me to use the monitor with the Macbook Air, but I am really hoping the usb-c connection would work. No change in cable, or further updating to OS Monterey 12.2, has worked so far. For a couple weeks, I thought the problem solved, until one day the connection was lost again (for both charging and signal input) without any hardware or software change I could think of. I then noticed an update for the Monterey OS (12.1), and after installing it, the usb-c connection between the Macbook Air and the monitor started working like a charm. I returned the monitor to ASUS for a check up, but was told that there was nothing wrong with the usb-c input instead, it’s a software problem that will be fixed in a future firmware update for the monitor. I tried 3 different usb-c cables (the ones that came with the Macbook Air and the Asus monitor, and a thunderbolt 3 cable), but none of them work, not even with charging, let alone displaying input signals. The latter comes with usb-c input (in addition to hdmi and display port inputs) that I intend to use to de-clutter my desktop. Macbook Air (M1) cannot connect to external ASUS PA329cv monitor via usb-c I recently bought an M1 Macbook Air (which I immediately update to macOS Monterey 12.0) to use with my Asus PA329cv monitor. Obviously I would not like to use HDMI and having an adapter on my desk together of having to use the magsafe for charging purpose. So, question, how do I do to have my monitor run at 75hz using my new expensive cable? I asked the question on reddit, and have been told my cable was maybe not that good and I must look for something that can sustain 40Gb, so I bought the Thunderbolt 4 Pro from apple (yes the very expensive one). And I can see my monitor is running at 75Hz. Then I tried something else, I had a USBC to HDMI adapter from Belkin and connected my laptop to the monitor via HDMI through this adapter. Now, using the exact same cable, I noticed that the external monitor (laptop closed) is running at 30Hz. I have an external display that has an USB C entry.īefore, I was running my previous Mac mini M1 on this monitor (Asus Designo MX38VC) with no problem. Everything is perfect, machine working properly. I just bought a MacBook Air M2 - 10 core GPU - 512Go HDD. Hello ! I am looking for help on something I don't get.
